I haven’t always felt calm in the mornings. I have had periods of my life where I’ve felt so anxious I would basically hide in bed. Getting out to go to work, and then, basically getting back into bed again as soon as possible. And if I wasn’t doing that I was self-medicating with alcohol. A toxic cycle of getting drunk in the evenings, and feeling shitty in the mornings.
