Are You Resting Enough?

Some Time Out Can Make All The Difference.

I had hit burnout. No matter how early I was getting to bed, I was still waking up tired. I felt depressed. My motivation was shot. I couldn’t concentrate properly.

I booked time off work. Couldn’t afford a holiday. But given how I needed to rest, it wasn’t a big deal. If you go away on holiday, the emphasis is always on doing something. Staying at home meant that the vacation could be purely for rest. Plus I’m broke so anything else was off the cards anyway.

I went for long walks into town with my girlfriend. We’d sit and have a picnic in the park, or a coffee, or a snack in a cafe.

After a few days of rest my mojo magically came back. Fancy that. And better than that I came back stronger, and more motivated to get back into the good routines.

We’ve been reviewing our finances in the wake of our housemate moving out. We’re both paying off significant debt right now. So I’m not really sure how any of it is going to work out. But I’m using it as impetus to really tighten up on any unhealthy behaviours. Necessity is the mother of invention they say, but in this case, it is the mother of motivation. I’ve managed to pay off over one thousand pounds worth of debt so far this year. But with the cost of living crisis driving bills up, and…
